Dauphin County Jury Finds Correction Officer Not Guilty
|
Recently a Dauphin County Jury acquitted Correction Officer Daniel Hosler in connection with criminal charges filed by the Dauphin County Detectives. The criminal complaint alleged that Hosler assaulted a black male inmate in the summer of 2006 and later assaulted a female inmate in the summer of '07. The Commonwealth alleged that the incidents were similar and both cases were tried together. The incident involving the female inmate was captured on videotape as Hosler was escorting her down a hallway. Hosler was charged with two Counts of Simple Assaults; two Counts of Official Oppression; and one Count of Ethnic Intimidation. Following a four day trial, the Jury deliberated for 3 1/2 hours and returned not guilty verdicts on all charges. Daniel Hosler was defended by Attorney David Dowling, a former Assistant District Attorney. Click here to read a scan of the newspaper article of the case
