Civil Rights Litigation
Rhoads & Sinon has a long history of representing municipal governments, schools and elected and appointed public officials in the defense of alleged violations of civil rights. Our vast experience in the defense of such cases, coupled with our substantial knowledge of the federal courts within Pennsylvania, uniquely position Rhoads & Sinon to provide the best possible defense.
These cases have included claims for violation of free speech and related first amendment rights, substantial and procedural due process, equal protection and other state and federal constitutional claims. We have defended school districts, cities, boroughs, townships, police departments, and municipal authorities, as well as their elected and appointed officials. We regularly monitor developments in the law, so as to enable our clients to know and understand the trends in the law, in order to avoid potential costly litigation.
We are, in addition, experienced in the prosecution of civil rights claims, where our business clients have been the victim of an unconstitutional statute or regulation. We have pursued claims through the Pennsylvania appellate courts and federal trial and appellate courts.
