Oil & Gas
The Oil & Gas practice group in conjunction with our Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, and Business Litigation practice groups, are available to represent clients, be they oil and gas companies or residential and commercial landowners, regarding oil and gas issues in this highly specialized industry. We have been involved in Marcellus Shale related energy efforts in Pennsylvania since early 2007 and maintain up to date information in order to support the interests of our clients.
The Energy, Utility & Telecommunications practice group is counsel to a wide range of clients in the energy arena, including oil and gas landowners, royalty owners and development companies. We also provide counsel in the areas of state and federal regulatory issues before the State Public Utility Commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). We address complex energy technology issues, telecommunications issues and any related litigation matters that may accompany them.
The Energy, Utility & Telecommunications practice group has extensive experience in the natural gas arena, having represented ratepayers in 1307(f) gas cost filings and natural gas rate cases before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, including work on the natural gas restructuring proceedings of Pennsylvania’s local natural gas distribution companies.
Scope of Practice
Such representation may take a variety of forms, ranging from individual client issue resolution to multi-client group representation. The services supported under our Oil & Gas umbrella practice include:
- land and title disputes,
- existing and prospective lease evaluation and consulting,
- negotiation in real estate and energy issues with land development companies, drilling and exploration companies and utilities,
- working and royalty interest owner disputes,
- third party claims,
- gas purchase contract litigation,
- traditional tort litigation arising from oil and gas operations,
- Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) litigation and other regulatory matters, and
- continuing representation for duration of oil & gas lease agreements.
