Press Release: Rhoads & Sinon Files U.S. Supreme Court Brief on Behalf of VFW in Snyder v. Phelps

Rhoads & Sinon LLP attorneys Timothy J. Nieman and Dean H. Dusinberre have filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars with the Supreme Court of the United States in the matter of Snyder v. Phelps. This case was initiated by Albert Snyder against members of the Westboro Baptist Church who picketed at his son’s funeral. Marine Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder was killed in action while serving in Iraq.
The Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to hear this case in order to address various free speech issues.
The VFW filed the brief in order to carryout its Congressional mandate “to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their widows and orphans.” Rhoads & Sinon donated its time to this worthy cause.
